The Shell Business Service Centre (SBSC) is the second largest of six global business service centres in Shell providing business services including information technology (IT), finance operations, human resources, contracting and procurement, customer service and supply and distribution. The office is the only Shell Business Service Centre to offer a complete suite of business services supporting more than 90 countries.

Apart from Kuala Lumpur, other SBSC hubs are located in Chennai, Cape Town, Manila (largest centre), Glasgow, and Krakow.

SBSC currently employs more than 3,000 young and talented knowledge workers, largely Malaysians. It operates from a 323,000 square foot LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certified green building, a first for Shell in Malaysia. Shell Business Service Centre Sdn Bhd attained MSC status on 25th January 2010.

“Our continued investment and journey in the Multimedia Super Corridor reflects Shell Malaysia’s commitment to support the government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) to generate higher income, higher value-added economic activities and intensify human capital development in the country,” said Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia downstream businesses, who represented Anuar Taib, Chairman, Shell Malaysia at the launch.

Previously operating from various offices in Kuala Lumpur, the new SBSC is the result of a consolidation of business services into one single mega centre.

“The mega centre is on a growth path and is rapidly evolving as a prime centre for knowledge workers in the various streams. Concentrating our resources in a single location will also enable greater collaboration, better work efficiencies and faster response to the needs of all Shell businesses,” said Azman.

More evident of Shell’s confidence in our local talent, 75% of the services carried out in this mega centre are in support of Shell companies outside of Malaysia.

Employees at SBSC are drawn from a host of key expertise to serve a whole range of business that Shell operates in. A substantial number are Malaysians who had also worked in Shell’s key overseas operations and installations.

The establishment of the SBSC is part of Shell’s initiative to attract and retain Malaysian talents and is consistent with the aspirations of the Malaysian government to have Malaysians contribute to their nation’s growth.

The facilities at Wisma Shell campus reflect the world-class nature of Shell operations which complements SBSC’s aim to provide operational excellence. The office is Shell Malaysia’s first green building.
