FOLLOWING the rapid development in Cyberjaya, Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) has doubled its expenditure for the landscape department under the 2015 budget. MPSepang president Mohd Sayuthi Bakar said an estimated RM24mil would be allocated to maintain Cyberjaya.

“The budget for the landscape department almost doubled from RM12.1mil last year to RM24mil this year.

“The rapid development growth means that there are more areas that we need to maintain, hence the increased budget for the department,” he said after chairing the council’s eighth fullboard meeting.

Sayuthi said the council is expecting an increase of revenue of about RM114mil next year, compared to RM92mil this year.

“There is an increase of about RM22mil for the council’s revenue next year because of the development in Cyberjaya and the approval of many new buildings, which will be contributing to our revenue,” he said.

He added that as part of its development plan, MPSepang was planning to build a market in Sungai Pelek and a food court in Desa Pinggiran Putra next year.

The council also swore in a new deputy president, Muhammad Hafiz Shaari, during the fullboard meeting.

Hafiz was previously a secretary at the Kuala Langat Municipal Council.
